Great Boiling Spring in Nevada, Summer 2017

Somehow I was lucky enough to be a part of an upcoming VICE documentary called The Most Unknown. Among the many places we visited during filming was Great Boiling Spring in Nevada. Prof. Brian Hedlund from UNLV gave a tour and we took some samples. Brian's research here has led to and contributed to some very cool publications like this one and this one. Also, these super cool photos were taken by Michael James Murray and Austin Wallis.

Here I am showing Prof. Axel Cleeremans how we collect gases bubbling up from beneath a hot spring. Not pictured are the 10^658 mosquitos swarming us. (photo cred Michael James Murray)

Michael James Murray took some really cool drone shots while we were sampling the hot springs. Here is a link to Michael's awesome Vimeo page.
