Return to Guaymas Basin hydrothermal vents, Fall 2014
This time we are aboard the B/O El Puma and we are gravity coring the hydrothermal fields beneath us. We also stray pretty far from the tectonically active sites to get samples that aren't thermally altered. This work contributed to a proposal to the IODP to drill into Guaymas sediments to study the deep subsurface of this fascinating system.
